escape! by Elke Finkenauer, with El Refri at Govanhill Baths, takes form as a tiny tropical island - a deck-chair under a palm tree on a white sand beach at sunset - made from a disposable coffee cup, a prosecco lid, a pickle scoop, packaging from a frozen pizza, transluscent drinking straws, toothpicks, a pizza saver, and a wire fruit bowl. Presented in a mini-fridge, in an empty Victorian swimming pool, in the ice-cold Glasgow winter, this work riffs on escapism through food, beverages and consumption, offering a place of escape that can only be inhabited with the mind.
