Heavy Lifting is a wall-hung textile collage depicting a giant outstretched arm, propped up from below by two smaller hands that strain with the effort. Stitched primarily from worn-out clothing and bedding, this work observes the demanding and often unacknowledged work that goes into providing support and care. It considers issues of sustainability, both materially and in terms of the support structures that underpin a functioning society.
